The Horse Capital Marathon is a 26.2 mile running race which benefits Blue Grass Farms Charities. Some 700 runners will be competing & running on roads in North Lexington between the hours of 7:30am-1:00pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023. The race starts & finishes at the KY Horse Park Campground area. The Lexington Police Department will be providing traffic safety support for the race.
IMPACTED ROADS FROM THE RACE
● Iron Works Pike (From the KY Horse Park Campground to Russell Cave Road)
● Mt. Horeb Road (From Iron Works to the Scott County line)
● Old Lemmons Mill Road (From Mt. Horeb to Russell Cave Road)
● Huffman Mill Pike (From Old Lemmons Mill Road to Russell Cave Road)
IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT ROAD CLOSURES
Russell Cave Road will remain open in both directions all day long. Newtown Pike will be open most of the day in both directions. There will be closure at Newtown Pike & Iron Works Pike from 7:35-7:55am.
Iron Works Pike will be closed to thru traffic between Newtown Pike & Russell Cave Road from 7:30am-1pm. Local residents/farms will be able to come/go from their property exiting toward Russell Cave Road. If you need a police motorcycle exit please call 859/475.3232. Mt. Horeb Pike will be very busy with runners from 7:45am-10:30am. It is suggested that this road not be used during this time period. Local residents/farms will be able to leave their property but we suggest exiting onto Russell Cave or Newtown Pike from Old Lemmons Mill if possible.
