Welcome to the Kentucky Horse Park Campground!

Offering 260 spacious sites with 50/30/20 amp electricity and water, our campground sites are 55’ paved back-ins with fire rings and picnic tables. Two dump stations are provided for your convenience as you exit the park. Our campground also provides a combination grocery store/gift shop, as well as two bathhouses with modern conveniences for your comfort.

Electric primitive and primitive sites are available for those hoping for a more rustic stay. These areas are first-come, first-serve, and fill quickly during special weekends.

The Kentucky Horse Park Campground is located approximately 9 miles from downtown Lexington, and 3 miles south of Georgetown, on Iron Works Pike at I-75, exit 120. If coming from I-75, the campground’s entrance is a half mile past the Kentucky Horse Park’s main entrance.

The maximum stay is 14 days unless otherwise approved by campground management.

Changes may be made online on the reservation site or by calling 888.459.7275 at least 2 days prior to your scheduled arrival.

Any reservation made with a departure date that is more than 12 months from today cannot be changed for 18 days after the reservation is made.

Changes made to a reservation could incur a fee. Check with the reservation specialist.

Legacy Trail

For those seeking to stretch their legs a little more, venture out on the Legacy Trail, a 12-mile-long paved walking and biking trail leading from the Kentucky Horse Park Campground to downtown Lexington.

Campground Store

The Kentucky Horse Park Campground store provides a selection of grocery store items most convenient to overnight campers as well as a variety of other camping necessities and souvenirs.

Current Store Hours

Sunday – Thursday, 8 am – 6 pm
Friday & Saturday, 8 am – 7 pm

Starting November 1, the campground will enter the off-peak season. The store hours will change to 8 am to 5 pm daily.

Campground Pool

Closed for the season. The Campground Pool is open for campground guests only. Your pool pass is good for the day of arrival and throughout your stay. The pool pass is not valid for the day of departure.

Do you have questions about the KHP Campground? We’ve got answers!

Is the campground open year round?

Yes! The campground is open year round. However, the summer season is very busy and we recommend making reservations in advance.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Reservations can be made a year in advance of the day of your arrival.

Do you provide shuttles to the horse park?

Yes! Based on host availability, we are able to shuttle campers during the summer season from the campground store to the Visitor Information Center from the hours of 9 am to 5 pm daily.

Do you allow dogs?

The campground is pet-friendly. We do ask that all dogs remain on leashes and that you do your duty, after your pet does theirs. A dog park is located at the campground and is available for use to Kentucky Horse Park campground guests, horse show competitors, and park guests.

How do I make a reservation?

Reservations may be made on ReserveAmerica.com. If you do not have Internet access, you may place a reservation by calling Reserve America at (888) 4KY-PARK or (888) 459-7275. Groups of 20 or more, please call (859) 259-4257 or (800) 370-6416. Maximum stay is 14 days unless approved by Campground management. Check in time is 2:00 p.m. Check out time is 12:00 noon. All guests are required to check in at the Campground store upon arrival before going to their site.

Do you have free wifi?

Yes! We have free WiFi at the campground. To connect to the WiFi, connect to “KHP Campground”, choose the number of days you would like access, click “Create an Account” and enter your own username and password. Once you have created your account, you will have access to the WiFi until the date you have chosen.

Do your campsites have good satellite reception?

Reception may vary at the campground. Sites 131-138 usually offer the best satellite reception.

What do I do if there is an after-hour emergency?

In case of a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately. For cases of theft, loss or disturbance please call the Kentucky Horse Park Mounted Police 24 hours a day at 859-509-1450.

Are golf carts allowed?

Golf carts are allowed on the campground property. Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart and motorcycle. Please note that you must have a valid driver’s license to operate a scooter and/or moped that is capable of more than 30 mph. A learner’s permit or moped license is sufficient on a scooter and/or moped that DOES NOT exceed 30 mph. Mopeds, scooters and golf carts must observe all traffic regulations. ATV’s are not allowed to be operated on Kentucky Horse Park property.

Can I rent the pavilion in the campground?

Yes. The pavilion is 98′ x 31′, concrete flooring, lighted, with a roof and solid walls on short ends, open on long sides. Available electricity is 110 with 20 amp outlets and one 30 amp outlet. The campground will supply up to 10 picnic tables and sufficient number of trash cans. Restrooms approximately 300 yards away (groups of 25 or more are responsible for renting portable toilets). In-ground water hydrant available (renters must supply their own garden hose). Contact the campground at (859) 259-4257 for rental information.

Pavilion rentals include access to all recreational areas except the swimming pool on a first come, first served basis. By leaving a deposit with the KHP Campground store staff, Pavilion renters may sign out recreation equipment to use in the Campground. Equipment must be returned before the store closes for the day; depending on the time of year, this varies from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Are there any discounts on site reservations?

A 10% discount is offered for Seniors 62+, Active Duty Military and Veterans, and those suffering from a disability.

Do campers get discounts on Kentucky Horse Park admission?

Campers may also visit the world-famous Kentucky Horse Park at a discounted rate and receive free parking with the purchase of their admission tickets when purchased at the Campground Store. Adults: $16.00, Children (7-12): $7.00, Children (5 and under): free of charge.

What are the campground store hours?

Store hours vary according to season. The Campground Store carries a wide variety of grocery items including ice and firewood plus RV supplies and Kentucky Horse Park souvenirs. Campers arriving after hours may still use the night drop box located at the front of the campground store. The campground remains available to campers after hours.

Do you have sewer at your sites?

We do not have sewer hookups at each site. We do have two dump stations located near the front of the campground.

Things to Note

Maximum site occupancy is one RV/trailer or two tents, two personal vehicles, and 8 persons.

Swimming passes may be purchased at an additional cost of $4/adult and $3/child (up to eight campers per site). This applies to primitive camping only.

During the winter season, beginning November 1, only D & B loop is open for camping. The D loop has electricity only, and the B loop has water and electricity. To stay connected to the frost-proof spigots on the B loop, you must have a heated water hose and heat tape on the spigot. Otherwise, you may fill up your tank and disconnect.

During Southern Lights, November 24 – December 31, Campers can expect some delay in entering or exiting the campground from 5 pm – 11 pm every night.

10% discount for Seniors 62+, Active Duty Military, Veterans, and disabled.

Cancelation Policy

Cancellation fees will be applied if you cancel your reservation. See below for details.

Cancellations 15 or more days prior to arrival: A reservation fee of $6.00 + cancellation fee of $10.00 is applied. Use fees are refunded.

Cancellations 14 days or less prior to arrival: A reservation fee of $6.00 + cancellation fee of $10.00 + the use fee of the first night’s stay is applied. The remainder is refunded.

To cancel the day of the arrival, you must call the campground store. Refunds are subject to approval by Campground management.

NO refunds will be given once a customer has checked in.

Fee Information

If you choose to make a reservation, a non-refundable reservation fee of $6.00 for campsites will be included in the total payable fees. Your credit card account will be charged at the time that the reservation is made. Please allow up to 24 hours for your reservation to be confirmed. We do not offer discounts on tent sites.

Kentucky is mandated to collect a 1% state transient tax, various county taxes, and a 6% sales tax on all camping fees.
