Roy H was sold for $115,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, and then resold as a two-year-old-in-training for $310,000 at the Keeneland April sale to Gary Hartunian’s Rockingham Ranch and David Bernsen. Trained by Peter Miller, he began his racing career at just three years old; that year, he only won one race. At age four, he was winless. However, at five years old, he became the best sprinter in North America of his generation.

After an extended time off, during which he was gelded, Roy H returned to racing as a five-year-old in 2017. Racing in an allowance optional claiming race at Santa Anita, where he went on to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

He went on to win the True North Stakes at Belmont Park, where he faced two top sprinters, by 2 1/2 lengths. His race time of 1:08.59 earned him a Beyer Speed Figure of 111, one of the best ratings for a sprinter in 2017. This was just the beginning. After going on to win the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Sprint, he was named the American Champion Sprint Horse at the Eclipse Award ceremonies.

In 2018, he defended his title as the American Champion Sprint Horse and won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint once again by 3 1/4 lengths as the second favorite. He retired from racing in 2019 as a seven-time stakes winner with $3,139,765 in earnings. He then worked as a barn pony for Peter Miller, who became his owner. Roy H joined the Hall of Champions in November 2023.

In 2017, as a five-year-old, he achieved a Beyer Speed Figure of 111, one of the best ratings for a sprinter that year, clocking a time of 1:08.59.

He retired with $3.14 million in earnings with a 10-5-2 record from 23 starts, including victories in nine of his final twelve races.

2017 and 2018 winner of the Eclipse Award for Champion Male Sprinter.

Before retiring to the Hall of Champions, he was a barn pony for his trainer Peter Miller.
