Lexington, Kentucky, Debuts ‘Neigh-I’ Travel Planning Technology

Move over, AI. Lexington, KY–the stunning Bluegrass city famous for its unique Thoroughbred culture–has developed an intelligent (and hungry) new trip planning alternative that will help visitors plan their perfect three-day getaway.

Introducing Neigh-I, a highly unpredictable, low-latency equine alternative to artificial intelligence that could only come from the Horse Capital of the World.

According to recent surveys, more than half of Americans are concerned about AI and yet a similar percentage have used tools like Chat GPT to build travel itineraries. Meanwhile, a recent study has shown that horses are smarter than previously thought, possessing an ability to plan ahead that’s rare in the animal kingdom.

VisitLEX has mined each of these insights to create Neigh-I, an innovative way to plan an unforgettable three-day Bluegrass getaway with the help of a friendly, intelligent, and totally real horse.

“AI can be a useful travel planning tool, but nothing beats real, on-the-ground intelligence,” said VisitLEX VP of Marketing Leslie Miller. “You’re far better off asking a local expert, like the hospitality pros at the Lexington Visitors Center or a knowledgeable born and bred Lexington horse, for recommendations to get the best Bluegrass experience.”

The brain behind Neigh-I is Oliver, a black-and-white Paint/Shire Cross with an advanced bluegrass-powered processor operating out of Lexington’s Kentucky Horse Park. The park is a 1,200-acre working horse farm, international equestrian competition venue, and educational theme park dedicated to the horse.

When Oliver is not planning travel itineraries, he works to keep the Kentucky Horse Park safe on the KHP Mounted Police Unit.

Naturally coded with a vast understanding of the region, Neigh-I consults an evolving database and adapts in real-time to build customized itineraries for travelers by selecting local attractions from four categories: Accommodations, Drinks, Restaurants, and Experiences.

This proprietary method eliminates algorithmic error to ensure visitors don’t miss out on Lexington’s relaxing hotels, expansive farm-to-table culinary scene, creative cocktail bars, and immersive activities like tours of the area’s world-famous bourbon distilleries and unparalleled equine experiences.

“If you’re planning a trip to Lexington, let Neigh-I take the reins,” added Miller. “It’s the future of travel tech and another example of VisitLEX pushing the boundaries of destination marketing to ensure our visitors can connect with the best of Lexington.”

Travelers can use Neigh-I to plan their own three-day Bluegrass getaway at visitlex.com/neigh-i.
