A Passion For Horses…
and People

The mission of the Kentucky Horse Park is to celebrate the history of our relationship with the horse through education, exhibition, engagement, and competition. We warmly welcome everyone to experience the park!

We are a working horse farm on the rolling hills of the bluegrass. While all paths are paved, guests can expect inclines/declines from barn to barn. Details about the park’s accessible paths, distances between attractions, and other helpful information can be found below.

Pets & Service Dogs

The Kentucky Horse Park welcomes well-behaved pets on most of our grounds. Please observe the following guidelines:

  • Pets must be on a leash or confined to an approved kennel at all times.
  • Owners are required to clean up after their pets.
  • Pets are not permitted in: โ€ข Museum exhibit areas (lobbies are okay) โ€ข Iron Works Cafรฉ (covered patio is okay) โ€ข Alltech Arena

For their safety, pets must never be left unattended in vehicles.

Motorized Scooters and Golf Carts

Personal motorized mobility devices are welcome on park grounds. The Kentucky Horse Park offers a very limited number of mobility devices for guest use on a first-come, first-served basis.

To keep the park a safe place for all to enjoy, bikes and golf carts are not allowed in the tourist attraction area. Guests may see Kentucky Horse Park Volunteers in a golf cart providing rides to attractions. While volunteer assistance is common, it’s not guaranteed at all times.

Horse-Drawn Trolley

The Horse-Drawn Trolley tour is wheelchair accessible. A ramp located on the back of each trolley allows a wheelchair user to easily board and enjoy their tour around the park.

International Museum of the Horse

Restrooms with accessible stalls and changing tables (25 lbs) are available on the ground floor of the museum. A water fountain with a bottle-filling option is located near the restrooms. Museum exhibits are located on the first and second floors which can be accessed by two elevators.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a way for people to let others know they have a hidden disability. Sunflower wearers are able to discreetly signal to others that they may need more help, more time, and more patience. The Kentucky Horse Park along with Lexington Visitors Center, Central Bank Center, Rupp Arena, and Blue Grass Airport are all trained in how to help sunflower wearers.

To pick up a sunflower lanyard for you to wear while in town, visit the Lexington Visitors Center.
