KENTUCKY THREE-DAY EVENT
The Kentucky Three-Day Event is the largest annual equine competition held at the Kentucky Horse Park. One of only six three-day events in the world that are ranked at the highest level, four stars (CCI****), it is the first three-day eventing competition of the year on the international calendar. The Kentucky Three-Day Event is held each year during the last weekend of April. See the Calendar of Events for current information.
Eventing is considered the triathlon of the equine world, where horse and rider teams compete in three distinct equine disciplines: Dressage, Cross-Country and Jumping. The team with the lowest number of faults and the fastest time wins the competition.
The Kentucky Three-Day Event returns to Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington this year. The field includes dozens of riders from countries all over the world.
The event is one of the world's most prestigious equestrian competitions, and is one of only six Four-Star Three-Day Events in the world and the only one in the Western Hemisphere. It is a part of the FEI Classics Series, which unites the top four-star international Eventing competitions from around the world.
Known to fans as "The Best Weekend all Year," the Kentucky Three-Day Event offers something for everyone: the highest-level of equestrian competitors, tailgating, music, shopping, bourbon tastings, and more. Visitors also receive general admission to the Kentucky Horse Park, America's only theme park dedicated to horses.
The Kentucky Three-Day Event hosts many of the world’s best horses and riders each year as they compete for their share of the $350,000 in prize money. Riders also have a chance at winning the $350,000 Grand Slam of Eventing, which is awarded to any rider who wins the Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four-Star Events in succession.
