Lexington KY, February 10, 2014- Kentucky Round-Up 2014, hosted by the Kentucky Horse Council (KHC) on February 15 and 16, at the Kentucky Horse Park, announces its schedule of clinicians, demonstrations, exhibits and activities for families, children, novice Horse Owners and advanced horsemen. The full two-day schedule includes breed displays and a Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition!
The Kentucky Horse Council is an educational organization, striving to help Kentuckians learn about one of their most important industries. This event is a fun and entertaining way for children and families to learn about horse breeds, horse disciplines and the horse itself as a living being, performer and companion.
"WILD ABOUT HORSES" is the theme for our petting-friendly Breeds Barn this year. Represented breeds will include Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, Saddlebreds, Arabians, Kentucky Mountain Horses, Paints, Quarter Horses, Rocky Mountain Horses, Morgans, Paso Finos, Gypsy Horse "Odd Job Bob", minis and more.
In our educational area, we are delighted to host the US Pony Club's Equine Exhibit, an interactive learning center. Breyer Animal Creations will be giving a series of workshops on repair and decoration of this favorite model equine, and Kentucky Proud will bring information about their very successful program.
A new and special service to the horse community this year is Adoption Row. Adoptable horses from several rescue organizations will be introduced to the public, hopefully resulting in some happy new homes for the horses. The individual organizations will carry out adoptions according to their own standard procedures. Participants will include the American Horse Adoption/Saddlebred Rescue, the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, the Kentucky Equine Humane Center and the Lexington Humane Society. These organizations provide a much needed service to horses and the equine community.
Saturday Round-Up activities start at 9:00AM with our Parade of Flags and national anthem. Doors will open at 8:00AM, and the event continues all day until 5:00PM, when the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition begins, running until about 9:00PM, or until over. On Sunday, activities start at 8:00AM with Cowboy Church featuring famed jockey Pat Day. Cowboy Church ends at 9:25AM with the Parade of Flags and national anthem. The event will close at 4:20PM.
