The winning bidder will select 2 alpacas from a group of 14, (value up to $10,000) pending approval by the owners. The sale is contingent on the buyers showing that they are able to provide an adequate facility for the animals which includes a fenced area with grass, shade, water, shelter, and protection from dogs and predators and that they will be committed to providing appropriate food, worming, and annual shearing of the alpacas.
The silent auction will take place throughout the evening, from 4-8pm in the Indoor Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park. No admission required.

LEXINGTON, KY—59-days to go—Musicians from the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center will assemble at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games to showcase the distinctive music of New Orleans and America’s Southern roots during the Opening Ceremonies on September 25.
“It is an honor to participate in this event, especially an event that is going to be broadcast around the world,” said Victor Goines, clarinet player and music director for the Games. “It gives us an opportunity to showcase our talents and to demonstrate how we feel about the music of New Orleans.”
Jazz at Lincoln Center will be a part of the “a journey through the South” segment of the Opening Ceremonies, which features a Mardi Gras section that will showcase the sights and sounds of the popular American celebration.
Goines said the musicians he selected to perform at the Opening Ceremonies are not only some of the best Jazz musicians in the Deep South, but also in the world. They are all part of Jazz at Lincoln Center, which Goines said is like a big family for talented jazz musicians in the United States.
Jazz at Lincoln Center is one of the prestigious programs of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The organization became a part of Lincoln Center in 1991 and has since produced concerts throughout New York City, created a radio series on National Public Radio, recorded CDs and toured around the world.
“Jazz at Lincoln Center represents a rich tradition of America’s musical landscape,” said Everett McCorvey, executive producer of the Opening Ceremonies. “We are thrilled to be able to showcase this genre to the audience in the stadium and around the world.”
Jazz at Lincoln Center also collaborates with other artists and symphonies, performs in parades and ceremonies, keeps an extensive jazz library of scores and arrangements and provides educational programs to people of all ages.
Jazz is a historical genre that Goines said has evolved from many different ceremonies and celebrations including picnics, weddings and backyard jam sessions. Goines said his group of musicians will bring everything they have to offer to the Games, collaborating with each other as well as other performers in this section of the Opening Ceremonies.
“Our goal is to leave our listeners excited about the music, excited about what New Orleans is today and leave them in a very celebratory state,” Goines said.

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are the world championships of eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). The Games are held every four years and this will be the first occurrence in the United States. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will feature two exciting highlight events, including the $40,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix to be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010. Riders will also have the chance to compete during the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. This class will be the third event in the Hagayrd Challenge Series. The rider who accumulates the most points throughout the five-class series will be presented with the $50,000 Leading Rider Award.
The 2010 Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships Presented by Gotham North will run concurrently to the Kentucky Summer Horse Show, and these thrilling events will be hosted in the Main Stadium.
The Kentucky Summer Classic is a World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) recognized hunter competition, and has also been selected to host the 2010 USEF Junior Hunter National Championship - East Coast. The hunter classes for this championship event and the USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic will be held August 3-4, 2010.
An additional highlight during the Kentucky Summer Classic will be the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix, scheduled for the evening of Saturday, August 7, 2010, in the Indoor Arena.
Following the Kentucky Summer Classic will be the 2010 USEF Pony Finals, held from August 10-15, 2010. The top ponies from across the nation will gather at the Kentucky Horse Park to compete for championship honors in their respective divisions.
The final event of the summer series will be the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show, to be held August 18 - 22, 2010. This event will showcase the top hunters by hosting the 2010 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals, Presented by Dietrich Insurance on August 20 & 21. This exciting competition will once again offer $100,000 in prize money to the top 75 horses that qualify.
Another feature event will be the $50,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix CSI-W, a qualifying competition for the 2011 World Cup Show Jumping Finals, and the final event in the Hagyard Challenge Series. This event is held in memory of Betsy Fishback with proceeds going to the Markey Cancer Foundation.
For the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows, interviews with top riders, trainers, and owners can be arranged for media on-site. Daily competition press releases will be issued and high-resolution photos are available.

I've been traveling a lot recently and have been part of numerous conversations about the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. While in Aachen, Germany last week, I had the opportunity to talk about Games planning. I heard from quite a few people who said they wanted to attend, but were hesitant because of rumors that hotels are sold out. Not so! There are plenty of rooms available with an assortment of rates. Here in the States, there's another rumor going around that parking and transportation will be a problem. Nothing of the sort! There are three easy ways to get to the Kentucky Horse Park: LexTran city busses will be leaving downtown throughout the day with an incredibly low round trip rate of $2; Select hotels are offering shuttle service for $15 round trip; and if you want the convenience of driving to the Park, parking is available within walking distance for only $20. There really is a price and level of convenience for everyone.
