This year the Kentucky Horse Park’s International Museum of the Horse along with the American Museum of Natural History will host The Horse acclaimed exhibition. The Horse exhibition portrays the eternal bond between horses and humans, the horse’s impact on trade, transportation, labor, warfare, culture, and sports. Admission to The Horse is free with Southern Lights admission.
In 2011, the indoor attractions are bigger and better than ever! Come enjoy local holiday and craft vendors, seasonal entertainment, an exotic petting zoo, pony and camel rides, model trains, photos with Santa, and the Mini-Train Express. The “mini-train express” ferries holiday travelers between the beautifully decorated buildings housing the indoor attractions, and riders may even see some additional light displays, not visible from the driving tour.
Southern Lights opening night is November 18 and the event runs through December 31.
Indoor attractions will be open every night with the exceptions of November 24 and December 24-31.
On December 7, military families will receive free admission by showing a military i.d. Both active and retired military are welcome as our way of saying "thank you" for your great service.
In recent years, over 26,000 cars and 100,000 people have attended.
All proceeds benefit the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation. For more information go to www.KHPFoundation.org.
