John Henry's fans across the country have requested updates on the beloved champion's health.
He is being closely monitored by his veterinarian, and has been treated for dehydration several times this summer, due in large part to the excessive heat and his age.
He is afterall, a very, very old horse who has far exceeded his life expectancy, so we treasure each day a gift.
As of 9:15 am, John Henry was bright eyed and alert. He ate all of his food last night and has been drinking plenty of water. He also just had a chocolate doughnut which he was demanding this morning. The vet has been with him doing his regular morning check and drew the latest sample of blood, but John has been off fluids for almost a week now, so we hope his latest test shows that he will not need to go back on fluids today either. John continues to receive visitors, including two couples from Florida who made the trip just to see him, and a man from Maryland who drove all night to see him yesterday.
He receives guests at his stall during park hours, 9am to 5pm.
Thank you for your interest and concern!
