Kentucky Horse Park Campground is Open

FRANKFORT, Ky. ? Three Kentucky State Park campgrounds and the Kentucky Horse Park campground will remain open during the winter.

The campgrounds at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexinton, Paintsville Lake at Paintsville, Fort Boonesborough near Richmond and General Butler State Resort Park at Carrollton will stay open for campers. Most of the other 28 state park campgrounds will close Nov. 18 for the season. (The campground at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson is open until Nov. 25 and the campground at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park at Jamestown is open until Nov. 30.)

The 32 campsites at Paintsville Lake have electricity, water, and sewer hookups. Restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are provided. Two of the RV sites are adapted for the disabled. The Paintsville Lake sites can be reserved in advance by calling 1-888-459-7275  or visiting www.parks.ky.gov

A limited number of sites at Fort Boonesborough and General Butler will be open. Call the parks in advance to check on availability. The phone number for Fort Boonesborough is 859-527-3131  and the number for General Butler is 1-866-462-8853 .

All state park campgrounds will reopen on March 14, 2008.
