The conservation organization Equus Survival Trust has announced it will host a nationwide endangered breeds weekend at the world famous Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ? September 5-7, 2008
The Festivale of Endangered Equines will focus on raising awareness within the general public and encourage networking among breeders and their associations to help in the conservation of their respective endangered breeds. The exhibition theme, ?Celebrate the Differences? is designed to encourage visitors to explore and cherish the differences in these endangered historical breeds.
Activities include a breed pavilion, demos, parades, youth activities, seminars, vendor booths and a very unusual competition with a full array of classes that promise to be educational as well as competitive. The following historical endangered breeds are being considered for participation:
PONIES: Dartmoor, Exmoor, Dales, Fell, Highland, Gotland, Newfoundland
LIGHT HORSE: Akhal-Teke, Canadian Horse, Cleveland Bay, Caspian, Irish Draught, Lipizzan
