The Museum will be mounting a very special exhibit in 2014. Oak Hill Farm - A Jewel of the Bluegrass, will open on Friday,February 14, 2014 with a 6:30 PM dinner reception at the American Saddlebred Museum’s Showplace for Saddlebreds. The exhibit will encompass six decades of incomparable success produced by Jean McLean Davis’ Oak Hill Farm. Located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Oak Hill Farm has long been synonymous with world’s champion Saddlebreds and the tradition of excellence begun by owner Jean McLean Davis.
Featured in the exhibit will be hundreds of items and artifacts donated by Davis’ estate. Included are trophies, ribbons, photographs, paintings, sculptures, and assorted memorabilia from Jean’s personal collection. Videos will play throughout the Museum with rarely seen photo footage of Jean and her horses from the 1940s through the early 1990s. You will not want to miss this once in a lifetime chance to learn more about the woman and the horses of the legendary Oak Hill Farm.
Guests attending this year’s party will also have the chance to view the new American Saddlebred Museum Lifetime Achievement interactive exhibit. Sponsored by the Crabtree family and donors to the Museum’s 2012 Annual Campaign, the interactive touch screen exhibit features video footage, photos and biographies of people and horses that have made a significant impact in our breed’s history. In this opening installation, the lives of six important people and two horses are explored - made possible through donations made in their honor.
